30 de cluburi au fost invitate la M. Enzersdorf / Austria pentru a infiinta aceasta asociatie dar din cele invitate au fost prezente 15 iar alte 9 si-au dat acordul si adeziunea in scris, alaturi de scuzele de rigoare pentru imposibilitatea de a participa din motive obiective la sedinta de constituire.
La aceasta intalnire, Clubul Sportiv OLTCHIM a fost reprezentat de vicepresedintele Nicolae Luca si de Werner Olah, membru.
Mai jos este redat primul comuniat de presa al acestui organism nou infiintat dar ceea ce nu reiese din aceasta prezentare succinta a evenimentului este faptul ca Romania a obtinut un loc pentru un membru al sau in Comisia de Competitii a cluburilor care va fi absorbita si va lucra alaturi de Comisia de Competitii a EHF la calendarele competitionale ale Cupelor europene precum si campionatele internationale sau turneele organizate de EHF.
"At a meeting in Maria Enzersdorf, Austria, on the 27th of March, 2008, 15 Top European Handball Clubs from 11 nations agreed on to found an association for future collaboration. Those nations and teams include: Austria (Hypo-NÖ), Croatia (Podravka Koprivnica), Denmark (FC Kopenhagen, Viborg HK), Germany (1. FC Nürnberg), Hungary (Budapest-Bank FTC, Dunaferr NK, Fehenrp Alcoa), Montenegro (Podgorica), Norway (Byasen, Larvik HK), Romania (CS Oltchim Valcea), Slovenia (Krim Ljubljana), Spain (Cementos La Union Ribarroja) and Ukraine (Motor Zaporosnje).
They signed a letter of intent with the goal to found the association before their next meeting on the 20th June, 2008 in Podgorica, Montenegro. They offer their support to the national federations and wish to improve the flow of communication to and from the federations, and with each other. With the WCA,the EHF will have a solid, responsible partner for all issues concerning the clubs.
As main intentions the parties defined the following aims:
Main focuses during the foundation year of the WCAwill be the development of its own structure, the topic of the Champions League (in particular the themes of match schedule, television contracts and advertising policies) and matters relating to the National teams.
The WCA would like to obtain joint decision-making rights on marketing issues and in the organization of the Champions League, EHF-Cup, and Cup Winners Cup competitions which are currently organized solely by the EHF. In addition, the members will have involvement with possible player fees relating to national team call-ups, insurances and the schedule for international matches. A closer co-operation with the EHFand IHF is their aim.
The participating club representatives established a Board, with Mr. Gunnar Prokop (Hypo-NÖ) becoming the President, Mr. Peter Cass0e (Viborg HK) and Mr. Predrag Boskovic (Buducnost Podgorica) the vice-presidents.
On the 28th March, 2008 seven more clubs: Györi Audi ETO (Hungary), HC Leipzig (Germany), Ikast Boarding (Denmark), Kometal Gjorce Petrov (Macedonia), Lokomotiva Zagreb (Croatia), Rulmentul Brasov (Romania) and SPR Lublin (Poland) joined the previously mentioned 15 Top European clubs in their aim to co-establish the WCA.
As of today, with these 22 teams, the WCAconcluded to establish the association with two further teams (Lada Togliatti, Zvezda Zvenigorod) as foundation members on the 20th June, 2008 in Podgorica, Montenegro.
The foundation members decided that interested parties might join the associaton in the future, admission criterions will be set to a later point."
